Being Featured on HuffPost…

boudoir

Tracy Stewart (above) said her photo shoot with Jones left her feeling “empowered, worthy and enough.”

Being able to work with all women speaks to my heart, so when I was asked to share more about my ‘why’ with HuffPost I gladly jumped to the opportunity.

When I first started shooting boudoir I noticed a pattern. Most of the women looked the same when it came to race, age, and size, so I told myself that I would never do that. I would never have a portfolio where all the women looked the same. My goal was to show all women, no matter what their race, age, or size that they too can have beautiful, sensual portraits of themselves. I want all women, who are brave enough to take that step and book a boudoir experience, to see how beautiful they are. There is no one size fits all.

Surprisingly enough, my business started when a woman in her 50’s wanted to do a boudoir session. I didn’t even have a portfolio at the time, but she trusted me to do her session. We had so much fun and afterwards she told me that she felt empowered. I never even thought about that part. That’s when I realized that a boudoir session isn’t just a photo session. It’s an experience. The women who came to me were looking for a full transformation experience, and that’s what we gave them. When my clients come into the studio they are greeted by myself and my mua. They sit for makeup and sometimes hair, but just as important…some girl talk, and we talk about so much. We laugh, we cry, and it’s like therapy in a sense. Then once they are all dolled up they get photos taken. This is their time to reconnect with themselves, and to see that beautiful woman that I think a lot of them lose sight of until they see the photos.

I realized something else. Working with so many women has definitely made me a better photographer, but most importantly, a better person. It’s such a beautiful experience, and I’m always so grateful to do it over and over again.
